Hania Szajewska is Professor and Chair of Department of Paediatrics at the Medical University of Warsaw. The research experience of Dr. Szajewska includes designing, conducting, and analysing randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews/meta-analyses, leading to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in books. Her main research focus is probiotics and prebiotics, paediatric nutrition, allergy prevention through dietary interventions, and diarrhoeal diseases. She is or has been actively involved in several EU-funded projects (e.g., PREVENTCD aimed at studying the influence of the dietary history in the prevention of coeliac disease; NUTRIMENTHE aimed at studying the effect of early nutrition on the mental development of children). Previously, she served as a member of the Council of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) (1999-2001) and as the Secretary of the ESPGHAN Committee on Nutrition (2002-2008).
